And lo it came to pass that we went into this game with reasonably high hopes, and we came out absolutely hammered.....

Picture this:  a pocket sized pitch, Salix win the toss and elect to field.  We put on our best bowlers and have a strategy.  yes, a  strategy.  Men on the boundary and to heck with the single.  And cometh on the Phene players, and one of them hits a 108, and another a 104 and one other gets 50 and they hit 6's out of the ground.

And we drop six catches (some of them quite hard admittedly).  Alex took a great catch, and was massively unlucky to catch one of their centurions on the boundary but be adjudged to have had his foot over the rope. But never mind.A great tea (Filip Deelen had been too busy to do it himself so had ordered a takeaway from La Pont de la Tour, mmm scrummy) and we went into bat, chasing an impossible figure.

Well, it started badly, Paul and Ollie sharing a joke run out, Ollie getting a duck, and it was only Craig, Dave H and Alex putting some spunk in the middle order that got us towards half the Phene score.  And we just managed to crawl past this.  Beaten by 154 runs, the largest ever defeat in Salix history.

Well, as the singer with the big hair in M People said.  "Things can only get better".  They surely cannot get worse
