2. FOOTBALL offers the world clichés; RUGBY produces facial deformity; HOCKEY provides an acceptable outlet for psychotic violence; CRICKET alone breeds myths... More quotes here.

As Chazza inspects his boot, big up to the A-Man
And so to south London for the rearranged Prez game.  The least said about the ground, the soonest expunged from living memory.   Anyhow I digress.  Twas a lovely day and Captain the German won the toss and elected to Bat. The Nurdlers first ball was a swinging full toss that clattered his stumps.  A diamond duck (first ball of an innings) and also an anti-Platinum duck (last ball of the season for him.  Tough.

But Fletch and the Germans friend, first time for us Adam, steadied the ship and put on 50 for the first wicket, with the A-Man rocketing onto a big one. Although the Chazman and the German stuttered, the middle order came good on a very fast outfield to post a pretty spiffing 218 in 35, with the Bison, clearly in top form now he has a re-invigorated love life, fall just short of his half ton.

After a splendid tea, it was out to field

(I will leave it here as I don’t yet have the bowling figures, but I’ll get them soon. )

Nonetheless, the German took two fabulous tracer bullet catches and the Chazman chipped in with two nice ones as well, as the Prez wickets fell rapidly.  However some determined tail ending saw us all having to play nearly the whole lot of overs before we could get in our motors and escape to West London.

And finally we should not forget the contribution of our novice keeper, Flossie who manfully stepped into the breach as all other candidates were too decrepit. This is a position he fulfilled with skill and style: ex Cap'n Ben, there's a new boy on the block : decrepit men, you can rest easy in your Barca-loungers, there'll be no more bending over , ever
