First a correction to last weeks report; I mentioned that the Wanderers total of 180-something looked "doable" at tea. Well it looked doable only on Planet Fletcher apparently. The rest of the team were in deep despair and reaching for the Prozac along with the vile food that passes for a tea at Glaxo. However, we did do it. So the pharmaceuticals giants teas might be rubbish, but their products really work.

Anyhow, to Islip. In driving rain. In one of those miraculous micro climate things the rest of the UK had it honking down all day whilst we had some persistent drizzle but broadly a dryish if freezing and windy day. The Team went out for a big warm up thanks to one of the players - who shall not be named but will if he does it again - clearing the dressing room with a vile smell and this seemed to get us into the spirit (the warm up, not the smell). On what was to prove a very low scoring pitch it became a day for the bowlers. Islip put up a spirited opening going to 50 for 1 but then Mike Ellis broke the pair with a great C and B and he and yours truly pretty much decimated the middle order and tail end (Fletch 4 for 13, Ellis 4 for 25) aided by some spirited stumping from Capn Ben (4! a club record).

At tea the rain had stopped. As ever the Islip bowling attack was spot on: Burrough bowling 10 overs straight through took 5 wickets for only 14 runs in 10 overs but 85 wasn't really defendable and after a traditional Salix middle order collapse Andy Rayner and Andy Bush steered us to a win. So it was a happy band of campers who headed for a rainy M40. Great opponents, lovely tea, but hey, fix the weather guys .
