Nonchalant.. but not for long
To Harlington for the last home game of the season versus the very pleasant Gents of West London, a team who always live up to their name.

Generally this game is a low scoring but close game, and today was no exception. Amazingly the rain held off as Captain Padfour lost the toss and we fielded in the arse end of Hurricane Katia. No chance of the bails staying on. Anyhow we opened steadily and the Gents put on 30-odd quite slowly, but then the wickets started to tumble and Mr Padfour took no less that 4 catches. Some excellent bowleds by Karan and Elvis helped too and even (I'm too modest to say how brilliant it really was) a slip catch from yours truly. So an early tea and a modest total to chase.

Opening, Ex Capn Ben and the Young Spillane cantered off and indeed the rest of us felt that our boxes might not need inserting. But then the trouble started as at about halfway to the total the wickets started to tumble. And just kept going as our middle order crumpled with about as much resistance as a wet Kleenex. And a fine spell of bowling saw those who could stay in just get dot after dot. And so with me and Elvis cacking ourselves as the last pair, it was left to Captain Padfour to whack out with his expensive willow and see us home, just before the heavens opened.

A really excellent game played in a tremendously fine spirit, you won't find a better opponent than the Gents

Records: According to the DB, only 4 players have ever taken 4 catches in a game, ex Cap Ben (easy, he's got gloves and then only once), the German, Marco our occasional Dutchman from the late 90's and Badmo! Big up to the iPadman

@ibadmo and you top scored in the innings by scoring a 6 when only 1 was needed. so selfish....

Well bowled and fielded chaps, the batting looks to have got there in the end...

Fixed. The written books bowling analysis didn't match the batting... if only we had some kind of battery operated, wildly expensive, shiny metal electronic tool that would make sure everything matched and it all added up and it didn't have to get re-typed by an OAP etc. And world peace too, obviously

The other missing wicket went to ?Barnes on debut.

Following Stu's example as Captain, a correction. I took two wickets - the c&b and the horrible full-toss bowled at the end. Selfish, Dazzler, I know...
