A batting hero
As the euphoria of Chelsea winning the champions leagues subsided (not for Dazzler) and the hangovers kicked in, we assembled in sub zero conditions at Chiswick for our annual rogering by the Whalers. I am extremely elderly but I don't remember a colder day than this. Anyhow batting first we got off to the most turgid of starts. By over 7 we had scored less than a run an over. Dazzler indeed faced 22 balls before he got off the mark. Anyhow we persevered and many people made starts, and none continued. Only a wonderful late flurry by our man at 11, the Steve-O, hitting out with gay abandon saw us reach anything like a low score..

Forsaking the warmth of the pavilion for the pitch then saw the Whalers plug away relentlessly, with Al hitting a chanceless 92 not out. As we became increasingly bereft of ideas, CGC hit on the wheeze of bowling everyone, a club first we beleive. And maybe a last too. Even rank filth from the clumsy, the aged, men dressed like Biggles, men nicknamed "Cockwrench" and others could not stem the tide and thus it was an early bath and a sojourn to watch England struggling against the West Indies at Lords.

Ah well, onwards, upwards etc and congrats to Karl for his first ever club runs! And cheers to the Whalers, fun to play as ever

The Nurdler left the following remarks on 23rd May 2012

Dazza - 22 balls to get off the mark. The TYS tag is coming true. I assume this Jacobs fella is a ringer.
