New coats and scorebook
We are very lucky this week to have two match reports, indeed from both our oldest and youngest players. So, here's what YM wrote..

After a grizzly week of weather the day was bright and clear and the wicket not too bad, if a little soggy. (Apparently the ground is quite likely to get covers in the near future, and a running track. One of those will be very useful for us..)

The Hetaroi were a bit short, and Padders lent them Elvis (who went on to get 28 n.o. and get a wicket as well). Young Lottie and YM did a bit of sub fielding as well (age gap 52 years). Our openers stuttered a little but ex Capn Ben steadied the ship and along with Rog and his comedy hamstring we closed at a fractionally sub-par 153. Of note was no less than 4 LBWs in this innings! It's a veritable rash of the things.

Apres Tea, Teen wolf (christened by the Whalers as "an angry young man") and Delilah opened in powerful fashion and latterly Tuffers, sporting a new massive run up, did well too, although Capn Padders got a bit of tap. Elvis delayed the visit to the pub as much as he could but the writing was on the wall.

All-in-all a really nice game and played in a really friendly spirit. It also saw Siv christened "Nelson". I have thought long and hard as to whether or not to detail the etymology of this sobriquet as applied to our Aussie and decided to instead just close with a link to the facts and to indicate that its not called that in Australia, apparently

And more eruditely, a match report from Lottie Shaw aged 9

And they're off the mark, it's Salix CC against Hetairoi CC and Salix's openers, David Padmore and Siv have given the team a flying start. OUT. It happened so suddenly. One minute the bowler was running up the next Siv was walking back with only 2 runs to add to his tally. Next in was CK1, a brilliant batsman with a lot of experience. Another one gone! CK1, the latest batsman was out for 7. Time for big blast Ben (otherwise known as daddy to me) hoping to make a few more runs than last year! Soon afterwards a partnership of about 20 runs Padmore had to make an exit after being out for one of the many LBWs. In to accompany Ben was Andy Spurr who ended up to make 14. Sadly Ben made an exit by being bowled for 36. Salix's final score was 154 off 35 overs.

After a delicious tea Salix were fielding, their opening bowler was Spurr. In the end Spurr went for 0-14 off 5 overs. Dillan did the best with 3-22 off 6 overs. Mike Ellis, a Salix player, was top scorer for Hetairoi who were all out for 111. The three catches were taken by CK1, Spurr and Shaw. Overall it was a lovely day, the sun was shining and it was victory for Salix.
