Francis and Charles from the CAC
Lest the casual reader peruse the scorebook and think this was close. It wasn't. But lets start at the beginning. With a number of key players off on hols, honeymoon, injured and other cricket impinging activities, we were most grateful to Francis and Charles from the CAC for turning out for us so we had 11.

It was an extremely blustery day, even by Harlington standards, and the Swans went in to bat as they were a touch late in arriving. They did incredibly well in the conditions but Captain Rog also marshalled his meagre resources well in the field. Tuffers took an exceptional catch at square leg, and after Siv had bowled his seven he took over wickie-ing from yours truly (yes that's how desperate we were) and chipped in with two great stumpings. Both the drops were really hard ones

After a tea, which reached new heights of inedibility, the weather had calmed down a bit. However having been quite good at batting the Swans were even better at bowling, and their guy Arif took an excellent 5-21 for example. A little experiment in letting very elderly men open proved as misjudged in practice as it clearly was in theory and only CK put up a fight. That is, until the very end, when Delilah came in a-swinging and a-driving and finally supported by Tuffers put on a great ending cameo.

And so both teams repaired to the pub and Smutty provided the calculating skills to prove my theory: this was the oldest team we ever put out. Just five years short of half a millennium. But who cares, I think we all had a lovely day. And it didn't rain. And Captain Rog doesn't have to give the kind of Press Conference that MS Dhoni would doubtless have to...

For the record, the bowling doesn't quite add up due to a bit of scoring confusion. It's close enough I think...

Much Love to Tuffers.. Best catch I've seen this season... Still don't think he's realized he caught it :-) And Bowled amazingly well... P.s Isn't there a column for stumpings ??? Robbed...

A moral victory for Roger's Codgers (all captaincy stats go against Padders don't they..?)
