The last game of the season dawned moderately bright and a little chilly as we valiant 9 made our way to Seer Green ( two of the team being forced to attend a premiere of the Lion King..). We immediately donned the pads and our heros Rahul Spillane and Mr Newton strode to the wicket. Either there was something in their pre game sarnies or plastic surgeons have surgically altered some real cricketers to look like the Salix team, but they sped away to a convincing start and kept up the run rate throughout. A little shudder in the middle worried us not a lot and some very spirited wagging of the tail by Messrs Ellis and Fletcher saw us off to a lovely homemade tea for 192.

Would this be enough? (well, obviously as we won easily, but bear with me). An early strike by Alex saw Chalfont go one down after 26 runs, but thereafter it was looking a bit dodgy as they edged up to nearly 80 without the loss of another wicket. But that was to ignore the guile of our returning Captain, who strategically placed Ollie down at third man and instructed Fletch to "bowl your usual crap" which saw the Chalfont Captain fall into our trap and top edge a massive one in to the safe hands of Ollie. Thereafter Mr. K and Mr. Ellis pretty well ripped though the rest of the team to see us home easily.

Match Highlights: Well, this was a really pleasant game and was followed by a slap up hot meal at the pub courtesy of the landlord. Very nice. Being only nine players, Chalfont kindly lent us a fielder and also the services of Daniel, aged around 10 years, who right at the end got to bowl against his dad (who performed rather better than he did against the Salix attack). But the high spot for me was the presence of one of the Chalfont's players dog, a little terrier called Ollie. As we were scoring I was amused to see our fielder of the year (also called Ollie) perk up considerably as the Chalfont ladies suggested that Ollie might like to sit on their laps, have his tummy tickled and other activities.
