Our first proper declaration game, and our first declaration. Charlie’s first game for us and still his only score over 50 for TRMCC, and the club’s highest individual score ever. Simon Curtis’ 16-6 still the best bowling for the club. Jon Evans had to wear a towel on his head as he didn’t have a hat and it was 90 in the shade.

Mid Season Update from the Touche House Mag Pipeline 28 July 1993

MC Cricket Update

The MC "All Stars" have now played three matches this season with a further two cancelled due to the weather. Our record is currently played three, won two. The first match of the season was a narrow defeat against Abraxus, following a Touche innings of international quality (England's n-dddle order) when we collapsed to 87 all out from 17 overs. Things might have been worse had Mike Nevin not scored an embattled 27, and the opposition got the runs with plenty to spare.
Our Saturday afternoon fixture in Bath against Praxis was a different story altogether. Touche were put into bat and made 218 for 7 declared by teatime. The opening pair of Charles Hewitt and Will Wigmore batted for nearly two hours and made 80 and 50 respectively before retiring. After tea Praxis were bowled out for 125 with 12 overs to spare when Simon Curtis took 6 wickets for 16 runs. There are still five more fixtures left and as usual, we are still looking for new players, selection being based on personal patronage and possession of kit rather than ability. Anyone interested please get in touch with Mark Rodbert via extension 3190.
